Western Athletic Conference Names Hitter and Pitcher of the Week

New Mexico State first baseman Tristan Peterson and Utah Valley University pitcher Paxton Schultz were named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the week of March 18-24, 2019.

Peterson was 12-of-19 during the week with 13 RBIs, five home runs, and seven runs scored. The slugger from Canyon del Oro High School in Oro Valley, Arizona is batting .643 with a 1.786 slugging percentage through the first three conference games of the season.

Meanwhile, Schultz was the winning pitcher in Utah Valley’s 4-2 victory over Seattle University on Saturday. The 6’3″ freshman RHP from Orem, Utah tosses eight scoreless innings, striking out seven batters and scattering six hits. The performance lowered Schultz’s seas ERA to 3.51. He has struck out 40 batters in 41 innings of work.
