What Can Pitchers Expect to Gain From the Camp?

“Campers can expect the same experience that our pitchers get on a daily basis here. We’re doing our best to develop our guys as best we can, and the campers will be getting the same experience.”

Camp Facilities at Morel Field House

“The camp is going to be held at Morel Field House — our state-of-the-art indoor facility, located right next to our baseball field up on the Metzger Athletic complex, here at Lafayette College. It’s going to use all the resources that are available to our players on a daily basis. We have four full batting cages in Morel Field House, as well as a warm-up area with our foam rollers, weighted balls, J-band, trainer’s table, and a video analysis station as well.”

Camp Coaching Staff

“Coach Tim Riley, who is our pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, is going to lead both of these sessions, along a couple current Lafayette College baseball pitchers on the staff.”

What About Pitchers Who Are Not Throwing in December?

“Even pitchers that are shut down for the winter can still come and get something out of it — it’s going to be all about recovery. We’re going to be going through our weighted ball program, our J-band programs, stretching routines, foam rolling routines, and basically just taking them through what it takes for our guys to get ready for their starts, and then what they do for recovery after their start as well.”

“They’ll get drills that they can use when they’re back up and throwing in the spring. They can take everything that they learned during the development session and kind of implement that into their high school season as well.”

Pitching Development Session: Pitching Mechanics and Video Analysis

“The Development Camp is going to be all pitching mechanics. We’ll be using video analysis. We’ll be using Rapsodo Baseball as well, so the guys will be getting their spin rates, spin efficiencies, taking deep dives in mechanics — making sure that they’re getting good scap loads, good separation and throwing with intent on the mound and, above all else, throwing strikes with as high a velocity as possible.”

Arm Care Camp: Stretching, Light Weighted Ball Work, Recovery

“It’s going to be going over things like stretching, foam rolling, light weighted ball work, and a heavy emphasis on recovery. So it’s good for guys even if they’re shut down. It’s going to be promoting recovery.”
